ting:

this post would probably serve to give ber a huge ego boost... but.... why does everyone seem to know him!???? his name comes up every other day it seems.

and the greatest irony? this friend whom i don't see often asked me during our snowboarding trip, "how's bernard?" NOT "how are you" mind you, but "how's bernard?". wahlau!

likewise, when my mum got her turn to talk to me on the phone just now, her first question after asking me how uni was was "how's bernard?". ishhhhhhhh. ber!! why did you have to send that message you sent!?? now my parents are questioning me non-stop. hmph.

though my mum clearly thinks ber is the best looking guy among all my guy friends. hahahah.. i guess she hasn't been introduced to the likes of jovan (sorry ber, no offense here. i still ranked you first amongst you-know-who remember?). nevermind, there's still the opportunity during graduation. =p

at this rate my friends are going, you'd think we are married or something. -_- though you probably won't know i haven't spoken to him in quite a while.

and my mum said something which i'm absolutely dying to tell hui. haha.. hui! quick!! finish your presentation and come online!

ting:

ughhh. i feel so so so stupid.

so the listing for the cellgroups came out. and i was looking at it, wondering why on earth my name wasn't on the list, especially since i am heading the group.

then realised that i didn't register for it, because i thought it would be a given.

ahhhhh!! i emailed bridie to tell her. i so hope she doesn't laugh at me.

and i'm changing out of one of my subjects, so my timetable will become even more messed up.

sigh.

the difficulty level this final semester seems to have shot up. especially since a couple of my subjects seem to be more honours-like than basic degree-like.

and i've a 30 minutes presentation in two weeks time. AHHHH!!!

ting:

i know i know i know. me again. (adel has to love me for providing her with such entertainment really, at the rate i blog.)

after lecture today, i went to ask my professor if our class was audio-streamed and whether we'll get access to notes (he prints them out for us) in the event we have to miss a lesson. afterwards while walking away, i was telling jo he probably thinks we never ever want to attend his classes, without realising he was BEHIND us. whoops! maybe we should wave a cheery hello at him next lecture, just so we can reassure him of our attendance.

off to the mountains this weekend (starting from tomorrow). i hope i don't get as huge a blister as the one i got last year. because both jovan and i aren't skiing/boarding on sunday, he's immensely excited at the notion of being in all my photos. he wish! unless he's some drop dead gorgeous piece of scenery. =p

and because i predict i'll swarm this blog with photos after our ski/board trip, here are photos (finally!) from my newcastle and sydney trip. haha, hui can stop bugging me about it as of now. =)

newcastle:

i'm in love with anything sun, sea and ship

i'm in love with the splendid hues of sunset,

the tranquility of water,

silhouettes, reflections, and where land meets water.

and then these are shots i dragged myself out of bed at 5.30am in the morning to capture. i believe the only thing that would make me disciplined enough to rise that early is the chance of good photography.

i love silhouettes...

...bold against vibrant colours of the dawn.

i love the flush of the sky when the rays of the sun peeks ever so slightly above the horizon.

the chess set sitting happy in the lounge room of our accommodation

en route to sydney:

a picture i took of jo, when the sun was at the right place at the right time (if you can't figure where this shot was taken, it's on a beach, with jo sitting on the rocks, the sea below her and the strip of sand right at the top of the photo).

i love how the sand, sea and sun meet to produce such silvery effects

the reason why i love newcastle so much is because it is almost surreal. even better yet is its ability to allow me to establish the necessary emotional connection required for photography. my camera might have been amateur to say the least, the lighting not the most ideal, the composition far from perfect, but i've surpassed anything i've ever taken my whole life just on that trip alone and for that, i'm contented enough.

sydney:

the rippling lights of sydney's night skyline (taken using a not so slow shutter speed)

the same skyline, just with a shutter speed that is much slower

isn't photography an amazing thing? :)

sydney's icon

the sydney harbour bridge

us at some ice cream place

the outside of some luxurious hotel

us in the five star westin hotel jon king kindly allowed us to stay in

you probably won't believe me again, but this is a reflection on the glass pane of the wooden work table in the hotel

the night view from our room window (i had to hide behind fully drawn curtains to eliminate reflections. if only i had a SLR plus a polarising filter, life would be a whole lot easier.)

this reminds me a little of lomography, where you see the world curving in at the sides

i love reflections =)

darling harbour, 2007

phew. that was a lot of photos.

i'm still bored, especially since my "entertainer" went offline. maybe i should go google tips on how to photograph snow and see if i can outdo myself again this weekend.

ting:

ok. it's me again. apologies for constantly blogging, but there's something about melbourne that puts me in a perpetual blogging mood.

just some random thoughts.

was googling interesting facts about africa for the trivia game (yes.. we're still working on it. i never knew churning out questions is this difficult! but kudos to enoch, because he's doing like.. 99% of the work?) and phew.. i never knew africa had so much amazing tidbits to it! but it's still beyond me to make questions out of all these information. ahhhh! this just isn't my forte. and how do i know which countries the africans in our church come from?

the hardest questions to answer are the ones that are the most honest.

a guy should never EVER ask me if i'm attracted to him, because if i'm not, i won't know what to say and i'd probably lie/phrase my words in such a way i'm not actually answering his question, so why waste his energy asking in the first place? plus why are they asking now when i changed my hair and more than half of my friends have been telling me i look weird?

and adel... stop seeking drama! find YOUR own and entertain ME instead!

tested out the promise on the tube of my mascara. it is indeed VERY water and smudge proof!

ok i'm rambling. off to bed!

ting:

HAIZ. singaporean guys!! buck up!!

so ber gave me this idea for one of the questions for the singapore section in trivia: how do singaporean guys usually propose. i'm pretty sure the girls would know (if you don't... wait till your boyfriend proposes. =p).

so anyway, it's supposed to be a multiple-choice question, and i'm totally out of ideas as to how guys might propose other than asking "will you marry me?". so i went round interviewing my guys friends.

in a nutshell, my singaporean guy friends said:
- "better to be straightforward. girls might misunderstand."
- "don't know, never thought of it before."
- "ask her if she wants a HDB?" (*slaps that fella*)
- no answer, that is, they just plain avoided my question (why?? is this question a very sensitive one?)

whereas, one of my guy friends who is NOT singaporean gave me a whole barrage of ideas. heh. =) better not mention names/what he said, lest he kills me.

ahhhhh! but i can't help it!! can i just mention one???

"will you be my sweetie bun?"

HAHAHAHAH it is too cute for words. i enjoyed myself laughing at him. =p

ting:

ok. i need some help here.

enoch and i are attempting to churn out questions for this game we're playing during sunday's international student lunch and we both thought it would be amazingly evil to ask them (as one of the questions) who died in the last harry potter book. =p what is even more evil is the both of us won't actually even be there, given our ski/board trip to mount hotham, so we won't bear witness to exactly how angry those who have yet to read the book are. well, their fault really. if they call themselves fans, why didn't they finish it like, on the day it came out? =P

so now, i am desperately headhunting people who have actually finished the book to give me a very detailed summary (need to get our facts right). ALEX!!! HURRY UP AND FINISH IT! STOP ENJOYING/SAVOURING IT WILL YOU!!!! AND NEELA!! my msn messages somehow can't get through to you!! and BER, did you get the book? if you did, are you done reading it??

also, if you're from malaysia/brunei(IRA!!! i need help here!!)/indonesia/wherever(hopefully an african comes across my blog and sees this), please tell me more about the funny habits of your fellow citizens. i need those information for the questions too.

this is fun. :D

random thought, but does anyone know the top 5 JCs in singapore now? victoria, hwa chong, raffles......... and which other two??

because i ran out of songs to listen to, i am currently addicted to the audio clips we recorded in batam. i love eny's voice. *blissful sigh*

ting:

first day of uni. i thought i was the only one feeling all negative about holidays ending till pei fei msned me to whine about the exact same thing. i've the same professor for two subjects and he's not all that interesting. plus my new timetable is utter crap. 5 hours in a row on mondays (AHHH!), 7 hours on tuesdays (but i've a lecture clash, so that brings the number of hours down to 6), 2 hours on wednesdays, one hour on thursdays, no class on fridays. boo. i'd prefer an evenly spread out timetable. :(

jet-lagging a little. last night was just plain weird.

did manage to see a few friends around in uni today, including those fresh back from their overseas exchange program. am simply dying to see all their europe photos.. it should prove really interesting. :)

caught up with the girls over a drink, bumped into wei kee who managed to hurl an insult in my direction the second he opened his mouth to say hi (hang on a minute.. he didn't even say hi!) so we spent the next five minutes bickering. i think the two of us take arguing up to the level of high art. if it were a form of showing your love for someone, i guess we've exceeded love, because we argue every single time we speak to each other. tsk. not my fault, it's always he who starts it and i simply can't let him get off scot-free can i?

because i'm bored with nothing to do right now, here's a tribute to commemorate the death of my winter holidays. some of the memorable moments i spent in singapore:

one of the six cars eny's family own, and one of the three she drove us around in when we were in batam

candid laughing shots are always the happiest

see what i mean about candid happiness? =)

ber's such a sucker for acting cute. tsk.

the day we sprung a belated birthday surprise on neela

pei's and mel's glee at neela's embarrassment (tsk tsk, such friends).

sigh. our whole group never seem to be able to be present at the same time.

(sorry neela we couldn't give you the surprise YOU wanted. =p)

the night the gang crashed over at my place. this shot was taken when everyone was watching in rapt fascination at what mei and eny were up to in batam. =P

playing taboo

augus's attempts at trying to act out the word

i was obviously stumped, while the guys looked on in amusement

hui in the limelight

urm.. i'm guessing we didn't manage to get the word correct?

shihan and i then played othello using randy's chess set, extending the squares from 8x8 to 12x12. it lasted 2 hours. and i lost!! BY ONE!!! though shihan decided to call it a truce when ber woke up and said there's no way i could have lost by one (apparently something to do with odd and even numbers? i'll just listen to the maths expert here.) and we didn't want to do a recount at 6am in the morning.

camwhoring

words carry incredible power, so be careful of what you speak.

i should tell my parents that having too many cushions lying around can get pretty hazardous, especially with the likes of hui around. =p

and i realised how fun ghost/scary shots are after i changed my hair.

ooooo... proposal!!

urmmm... another more violent form of proposal?

and then, a new uni semester officially kills all the fun by sending me back to melbourne.

ber looking sceptical at my creation, aka his hairstyle.

to those who specially went all the way to the airport to bid me farewell... thank yooooou!

was browsing through the flicker accounts of random people while waiting for all those photos to upload and wow. amazing beyond amazing photography skills. if only i had a better camera. =( and can someone hurry up and get married so i can practise my wedding photography skills??
