went to watch fireworks with tim, mei, da ge, beng, joshua and one of their ITE friends, ming yee at esplanade. we have a perfect view, cos we were sitting right in front of e river, perpedicular to e place where e fireworks thingie are placed. (dunno wad u call tt, my english sux haha) it was awesome. mei, da ge and joshua brought along their d-cams to take pictures of it. i was so excited when i saw e fireowkrs! acting like a kid, kept asking mei and da ge to take more pics. haha.. but da ge onli took a few and stopped. cos he said he wants to jus admire and stop taking photos. luckily there was a second round, and i took pics of it. very satisfied with e pics i took. well, at least it turned out to be not bad. shall post e pics at e end of this post.
actually mei met up with us with e intention of getting a personalised cushion for her sis as bday present. but there wasn't such shops near esplanade. so after e fireworks, we went to marina square. that was when ckc met up with us. they all went to e food court for dinner while mei and i walked around e shopping center to look for gift shops. wah lao, e shopping center very sux lor. got "lost". we wanted to get out of e restaurant area to e shopping area but cannot. but well, actually we did go in e correct direction, but we tot we were in e wrong track. so we U-turned and we went back to e same place. LOL.. in e end we decided to get out of e shopping center, and went back in again. onli then we found out that we shouldn't have U-turned. we should jus went ahead. -_- throw face sia.
e gang went to meet up with weixiang & wife + lijun after their dinner. so mei and i went over to e cafe. nothing much happened. jus some small talks between mei and me. and some jokes among the gangs. dunno y, lijun doesnt believe ming yee is enganged and is getting married next year. wad's so surprising?? though i dunno ming yee well (seeing tt it was e first meeting and i nv tok to her), from e way she toks, reacts and stuffs, she seems to be a nice and sweet gal. so wad's wrong with her getting enganged and married? weird. super weird. was lijun eating sour grapes? dunno y she like to do "xiao dong zuo" (small actions) la.. bth~
either way, mei and i were hungry.. but e rest doesnt seem keen on having supper. one of e reason cos no transport home if we were to go out to eat supper. in e end, i came up with this brilliant idea. i suggested tt mei, da ge and me follow tim home, whereby he'll get e car and drive us out to have supper. after which he send mei and me home. and finally back to boon lay, to drop da ge off and himself. they live near each other mah =x decided to go to west coast road there (near NUS) to have roti prata. e price went up. very ex lor. originally had plans for 1 cheese and 2 plain pratas. but e cheese one cost 2 bucks! so i dropped e idea. had one plain prata and a plate of fried seafood bee hoon in e end. e bee hoon was not bad, but quite small plate lor. and it cost $3.50. ex lor. e teh chino (cold) cost $1.40 lor. -_- but ok la, long long eat one time (opps, lousy english, direct translation)
haiz, wondering when can i get my k750i phone!! have to wait until tim's M1 contract reach 20 months. and i dunno if M1 has any good promotion. saw starhub promotion. quite cheap, $438 (with contract). comes with extra batt, ear piece, data cable and 64mb memory stick (though they are supposed to be in e package except e extra batt) haha :x but i cant use any starhub line to re-contract!! cos tim's mum gonna cancel her line le. haiz.. nvm~~ i wait loh. save money first. =)
okie, here comes some of e pics!

feeling weird.
perhaps it's because i'm a tad homesick? it's a little depressing when you compare the number of friends you have back home and here. on one hand, i would like to get to know more people, make more new friends, do different things. and yet, i don't see myself making friends as readily as i did the first semester. i can sit next to a stranger and not jump at the chance to make conversation. because of one thing. friendships, like everything else, do not come with a guarantee. how unfortunate. you can say hi, make conversation, rack your brains for more interesting topics but still, at the end of it all, there is a possibility the person would smile and walk away and you're back to square one. the mere thought of it all is tiring. i don't feel like making that effort.
friends need a degree of fate. i'm wondering if i lucked out on that one.
couldn't help but miss the past. i miss the kind of closeness i used to share with some. more specifically, i miss the friendship i had with bernard. told him that just now and he thought i was out of my mind. he thought a boyfriend would do me good. heh... it's not so much me wanting someone to keep me company, it's more of wanting to feel there is someone there for you and that you are not alone in this world. couldn't help but think back to the year whereby hui, ber and myself were so close you'd need a crowbar to pry us apart. we would talk on the phone till dawn breaks, go out during the day. the level of comfort is so high that you could just talk about anything under the sun and not feel awkward. where you could share your deepest secrets without fear they'd be leaked out. where you could ask for any advice and not fear that they might judge you. i miss the kind of friendship whereby the feelings are strictly platonic, but yet you enjoy each other's company so much you keep wanting to be with the person. was telling ber all these... think he probably thought i was drunk or the moon was affecting me in some way or the other. heh...
pity time changes things. pity how you have to say goodbye, irregardless of how reluctant you are. pity that when it is time to let go, nothing you do can make things remain the same.
friends. how can you want something so much, yet be so incredibly lazy to work for it?

ncs radio was sent for maintainence yesterday. no more music. sian. think it'll be back on monday. made 1 dedication in e afternoon when e radion wasnt here, but deejay din read it out. helped my in-charge to pack up a bit today.. cos we gonna move to another blk. hmm, i have a cubicle to myself! (and my IA student friend). think we're both quite excied abt it. cos we're thinking of how to decorate it. come to think of it.. if e radio will still be sited in ncs, where will it be placed? seems like there's no place for it. hmm.. hopefull at my place man! but got me and my friend le. dun think got space lor. haiz. sad man. anyway, i saw e floor plan le. e toilet is damn far. heard from my in-charge tt have to climb up a few steps somemore. so tt means when u're heading to for toilet, ppl will see u. -_- omg
oh ya one more thing. e CEO of ncs is stepping down today. so he treated all ncs staff for lunch. as in e sense tt we onli have to present our staff card to e vendors and its free! e bill will be sent to him. rich man. but then again, that will onli cost him less than 1 month of his salary lor. assuming 1000 ppl ordered $7 set lunch, max onli $7000 nia. $7000 to him si peanuts la. confirm less than 1 month of his salary lor. plus confirm will not have 1000 ppl eating in at ncs.. cos there will be ppl like my colleagues and me who chose to go out of ncs to have lunch. cos too packed le. no seats. i think e vendors will run out of food today man. haha
was chatting with Ting jus now. cant agree with her any less. i mean e making friends part and e guy friends part. many of a time (can be refering to a lot of other things as well), tt's jus wad i mean by "i care, but i dun bother".
sian ah, should i go for part time degree? i dunno if i can make it man. i'm such a slacker. raa~~ but i dun wan to be lousy. always dunno or can't complete wadever tasks tt's given to me. maybe i'll take up some courses to be certified or something. raa~~ but no money.. thinking of borrowing it from e bank but i think mus be above 21 yrs old.. and e thing is, even if i can boorow e money using my own name, e bank may not believe in my credibility. raa sian ah~~

"see, as much as you want to hold on to the bitter sore memory that someone has left this world, you are still in it. and the very act of living is a tide: at first, it seems to make no difference at all, and then one day you look down and see how much pain has eroded."--jodi picoult, my sister's keeper
nice way of summing things up. it's for a dear friend of mine, as well as for my mum.
my grandfather died today. dad gave me the news when he called. i never knew him as a person, he was only a title. fate never quite gave us the chance to interact the way grandfathers and granddaughters should. perhaps it was the kind of person he had been when he was alive. perhaps it was because of what he did to my grandmother, to his children, that makes him unpopular in the family, that makes people barely know him and hence, barely grieve for his passing. despite that, i don't deny feeling a tug at my heartstrings, a feeling of loss. now, all that is left is emptiness.
he didn't miss my absence. he barely knew i existed.

below are photos of the mess i have in my apartment right now. it's unbelievable how many things i have. and the right half of me is aching, which is strange, seeing the left half of me is perfectly ok! ah well, it must be overworked from lugging all the stuff around.
i'm exhausted. couldn't get out of bed today. and i mistook ira's call for my handphone alarm, so i didn't answer it. whoops! ira dear, you must know that i don't get out of bed before noon! on non schooling days at least.
something strange happened today. was sitting in this cafe with ira, suba and jo ann. we were about to leave when jo ann stared out of the window and went "shit!". looked out and realised it was POURING, when a second ago, the sun was shining and all was normal. ira wanted to walk in the rain but i was adamant about not getting wet. so we settled down again, because by the looks of it, the rain would probably last hours. but guess what? thirty seconds later, it stopped, the sun came out, the clouds cleared and all was fine. i don't think a passing cloud could be capable of that! and on our way to safeway, we saw two rainbows. :) beautiful.
aiming to clear the mess in my bedroom by tomorrow. aiming to clear the mess in my living room by the end of this week. aiming to get over this exhaustion and jetlag by friday. wanted to aim to get over my initial homesickness by tomorrow night but it seems like i'm over it. funny how fast people adapt when circumstances force them to. and solitude isn't that bad after all. guess the one sem in pgp paid off.

had a mini farewell for ting on friday. met up with my dear didi aka alex at yck mrt station after work. he was wearing much more formal than i am. haha.. everyone asked him y did he wear so formal, and he pushed all e blame to me. erm lor. he said i din reply him when he asked where we were going. i replied! its jus tt u dunno where's e place. haiz.. road idiot la him. met up with mei and jol at PS. while waiting for e 2, tok a lot of crap with di. he has real weird theory. and when i e gals abt his theory, they were laffing like mad. our conversation was as follow:
me: wah liao, y she so slow one? haiz, short legs walk slower~
di: ??? no wad. ppl with short legs walk faster
me: !!! how can tt be? its not like signalling system in a wired network u noe, u think e shorter e wire, e faster e singalling speed cos lesser propgation delay and shorter latency? (paiseh, too much networking in NYP and NCS)
him: no. ppl with shorter legs walk faster cos they open and close legs faster.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
i almost died laffing. we then asked alex to demostrate for us. forgot wad excuses he gave. well, he always have excuses. haha
anyway, bought some canned soup and tibits and went to ting's place. we ordered pizza. thanks to alex's suggestion, we ordered 3 large pizza. hell lot man. cannot finish. i ate onli 2 slices of e regular one. haha, too busy dee siao-ing alex. he's jus so funny :P
anyway, had a story telling session, hosted by mei. haha i forced her de. to tell us e story of 178~ ting and i acted e thing out. so damn funny. we din noe e exact lines, as in what did they say to each other. so we started to tell our own story. too much humour. haha.. we were acting halfway when e pizza man came! so we stopped. and we din continue le. i think all of us had a tiring night laffing and joking away. oh man, my jaws were so tired. its vigorous exercise for my jaws.
went to see ting off at e aiport b4 rushing to bukit timah for tim's grandma bday. and b4 going to e airport, i bought Baby a companion. hope ting likes it. and hope Baby likes her new friend too! lucky bear, get to travel to aussie. raa~

woke up late for work today. 825am. wahaha.. no more hearty breakfast surprise. but i think ncs ppl still need breakfast. not so sure abt it. heard one my of my colleagues called to ask. lala~ either way, e whole engineering infrastruture dept wil be moving over to another block in ncs next week. i dunno where i'll be sited, but i saw e floor plan already. there is a spare cubicle and i think i'll be asked to sit there bah.. if i really do sit there, e ppl surrounding me are ok. no big shots, no meanies. and its near my boss. so ok la hope nothing terrible happens.
today is such a sian day. kept gerating report. and e worst thing is, gladys is not sitting beside me! she's inside e NOC room. no one to tok to. ahh, almost fell asleep. she'll be in there for 2-3days lor. haiz, dunno how i survive. somemore next week move to new block dunno if she'll still be sitting next to me. haiz..

now that i'm back in melbourne, the whole holiday in singapore feels kind of surreal. like it never quite happened, and it was just a sweet dream which i unfortunately had to wake up from. it's freezing here, am wearing three layers now and contemplating adding another. i'm really surprised that, just a mere seven hours away, things could be so different.
thanks to the national day parade preview, all the flights were affected. my plane was scheduled to take off at 7.20pm but we were still on the ground at 8pm. the pilot came onto the public address system at 5 minutes past 8 and announced that the runway was congested and a lot of planes were waiting to take off but can't. weird. how does the national day parade affect us? the fireworks? or the helicopters?? anyway, he said we had to take queue numbers, which i thought was hilarious. another five minutes later and he gleefully announced we were in queue number three, so we won't have long to wait. you know how planes slowly thunder down a runway before picking up speed and taking off? well, my pilot must have been dying to go because once the control tower gave the green light, he floored the accelerator and the plane shot down the runway like a bullet! all of us got a shock. i guess he must have been speeding in the air, we left 45 minutes behind schedule and landed a mere 10 minutes behind our expected time. impressive.
the flight, as usual, was a long draggy one but lucky for me, i was sitting beside two german girls who had a really good sense of humour. i was extremely tickled by one who had an infected cut and was convinced the red streaks down her hand was bacterial entering her bloodstream and going straight for her heart. she thought she would die in mid-air! and i felt it strange when they asked me the meaning of certain words they came across in the in-flight magazine.. i mean, looking at them, you probably wouldn't be able to tell they are europeans so it would seem a little strange, an asian girl explaining english words to caucasians. go figure.
the reason why i love a window seat is because when you look out of the window, you see the most amazing things ever. when i happened to glance out in the middle of our flight, i realised the sky was choke full of stars. couldn't resist it, starting wishing on various stars, praying for all the ones i love. i think i wished on the same star more than once because i got confused in the end and couldn't remember which i've selected but nevermind. :) stars are amazing. i'm sure my prayers will be answered.
before landing, the scene below was also a marvel just to look at. tiny golden lights twinkling up at you, welcoming you to land. it made me think of the people responsible for those lights. made me wonder what they were doing, whether they were at home with the ones they love, whether they were happy. the entire spectacle looked like the ground was studded with golden flakes which simmer as they catch the light. unbelievably beautiful.
the reason why i hate a window seat is because when you need to use the bathroom, you gotta go scrambling over two other people. and what happens when you desperately need to go but the person next to you is sound asleep? you train your bladder to become stronger, that's what you do.
last night seemed like the night for speed. my cab driver was as cranky as my pilot. he was driving at break-neck speed, wanting to deliver carol and me to college square as soon as possible. and the rate at which the taxi metre was jumping was downright scary! i timed it... it increased by ten cents every two seconds! which either means it was rigged or the driver was really going too fast. and that useless piece of git didn't even bother helping us unload our luggage. *roll eyes* so much for my original intentions, to seduce a guy into helping me lug my stuff all around.
came back and i didn't quite know what to do with myself. i still don't. feel so incredibly lost. there's tons to be done, unpacking, arranging, buying, cleaning. but i can't seem to get round to doing all these. wish i could snap my fingers and everything would fly to their allocated positions. and it's unbelievable that ever since saturday morning, i've only survived on two hours of sleep and am still going strong. the wonders of our body. still, i think i'll be hitting the sack soon, there's nothing to do (actually, lots of it, just that i'm not in the mood to get round to doing it) and it's so cold all i want to do is huddle beneath another five or six layers.
ugh. i can't wait for spring to come.

it's amazing how time flies. just like that, and five weeks are over. just like that, my holiday in singapore is over. just like that, it'll be back to melbourne, back to freezing my ass off, back to another semester of hard work. i kind of like my timetable, except for wednesdays. i get mondays off (finally!), 3 lectures on tuesdays, 2 tutes and 1 lecture on thursdays and just one lecture on fridays. wednesdays are trashy, because of a four hour break inbetween my lessons. ughhhhh! but i guess it could be a whole lot worse, so i ought to be thankful.
was tidying up the mess i made in the one month i was back and couldn't help but feel a tad sad. i couldn't answer pei when she asked me if i was looking forward to going back. in a way, yes, i can't wait to go back to melbourne, see my friends again, get to hang out with them and do things i can't do in singapore. and also to escape the humidity. but on the other hand, i'll be going back alone. no more meeting up with friends and relatives. no more jiehui to sit and talk till the wee hours of the night. no more excitement, when you see good old friends you haven't met in ages and just gabble away, catching up with the going-ons in each other's lives.
i know people change constantly. in just a mere four months, i'm aware of the fact many have changed. probably i have too, just that i'm not aware of it. it's a little sad to know that after putting in all the effort to bridge the gap between you and your good friends, you're going off again. but i'm still determined to try, to keep all these friendships. it's not so much for the sake of networking, or the knowledge that you have a wide social circle. it's more because these people are my friends and they are precious to me.
but i also want school to start. i can't wait to get back into routine, to know that you ought to be doing this at this time. being in control of your time once again. striving to achieve greater heights and to out-do yourself constantly. relaxing and doing nothing in particular is enjoyable, especially when you don't have the stress of exams and assignments. but being on holiday makes me feel horribly unproductive. it makes me feel as though i'm just wasting my life away. yeah. i'm weird. i knew that long ago.
anyway, i just want to make mention of a very special friend of mine. i won't mention names, for privacy sake but i'm sure you know who you are. my previous entry was dedicated to you. i guess this probably isn't a time where you'll be reading blogs but in the event you do, i just want you to know that no matter what i'm doing, no matter what i blog about, you're constantly on my mind. this is a very tough period for you, but take comfort in the fact i'll always be there for you, irregardless of where i am. i'm sorry i cannot be physically present, but i promise to give you the kind of support you need. i don't really know what is for the best, because i don't know what would comfort you but i'm willing to try. and i'm sure your other friends think the same way too. (read pei's blog as well if you're reading this.) i'm hoping the previous entry would be some sort of an antidote for your pain and that you'd be as brave as the moth. i won't say be strong, because it is hard to be. but be brave and have courage, because i know you will survive whatever life throws in your path. i love you dear. very much. take good care of yourself ok??

for you who needs strength.
"it's a moth cocoon. it's ironic that only butterflies get your attention, but moths spin silk. they're larger, they're faster. you see this little hole? this moth is just about to emerge. it's in there right now, struggling, digging its way out of the thick hide of the cocoon. now, i could help it. take my knife, gently widen the opening and the moth would be free. but it would be too weak to survive. struggle is nature's way of strengthening."

i think it is ridiculous when people say they don't know what they are up to the next day. if you have a good reason, like being on standby, then fine, i understand perfectly. but the others? you try co-ordinating a bloody gathering when you're trying to find a suitable timing and everyone comes back to you and say they don't know what time they are free because they don't know their plans for the next day. maybe i'm an incredibly organised person who plans ahead so pardon me for not understanding. but seriously. i'm not angry at anyone, nor am i blaming anybody for not knowing their schedules. it's just incredibly frustrating when you ask the people you're supposed to meet the next day what is the best time for them and they say, "i dunno". so how am i to arrange a venue and time? i go ahead and decide myself. and then they say they can't, because they MAY have something or the other going on at that hour. *tears hair out and screams*
i am so not cut out for organising stuff. i have zero patience.
anyhow, i finished watching the entire season one of LOST and i finally understood the need for a second season. i originally thought the second season would be about another plane crashing, or another group of survivors from the same plane crash stranded on another island. but nope... it's the same group of people we'll be seeing. the ending was so abrupt! i hate film makers and the way they deem it necessary to just leave the audiences hanging on like that, waiting. i hate waiting. i hate it when you have to wait AGES, until you forget what the whole damn show is about. i hate it when they air the second season a year later and still expect you to make the connection. i hate not knowing, and having to wait to find out. and i absolutely HATE IT when the ending is a "to be continued...." it's possibly one of the most annoying things in life.
so when is season two gonna be out? or more specifically... when will the dvds/vcds come out so i can get them from someone? a major bummer would be my cute guy is no more. oh, and to prove my point about the guys i like dying? i finally decided i like sawyer as well and guess what? someone shot him, he fell off the raft and it seems like he's dead. and i have to wait till season two to find out. marvellous.

i can't believe how time flies. my five weeks of winter holidays are almost over.. another week or so and i'll be on the plane again, heading back to freezing melbourne. well, not that i'm complaining of course. :) this holiday has been good, catching up with friends, eating the food i missed out on and getting the chance to do a little comparing and contrasting between melbourne and singapore. one part of me wishes the holidays were a little longer, another part of me can't wait to get back to melbourne and start my second semester. i promise i'll be consistent this sem. i MUST get that scholarship. my aim is to be a geek with a tad of social life.
other than thinking how i ought to allocate my time between studies, work and having a social life, i've been a couch potato these couple of days. thanks to the fact i've run out of books to read... completed all my library books and am not gonna borrow any others, for fear i'll just end up sitting and reading and being incredibly unproductive. tim came over to my place last week to pass me the entire season of LOST, which i promptly burned into my laptop. i'm up to episode 20 now and this is when all LOST fans should STOP reading if you don't want to know what happened, because i am gonna start whining...............

when i first starting watching the show, i didn't find it impressive, neither did i think it deserved the title of being "critically acclaimed". but as i continued watching, it became more interesting, more addictive and i feel it teaches the viewers a lot of things. for instance, how each character on the island has a past. how they deal with all the emotional baggage. how they struggle for survival and how they learn to let go of the past and start living their lives in the present. how to forgive and accept each other for what they are. the fact that no one person can survive on his or her own, and mustn't be too proud to approach others for aid. because that's when you learn.
i don't know if i have become overly analytical recently... maybe i've been reading too much into the slightest things. but this is my opinion, and this is how i analyse the show. if i'm reading too much into it, then ok, i'm learning from my own opinions anyway, so all's good. :) but now, i've a problem. i love the show so much i can't bear to delete it from my laptop after watching it. bleh. and it's occupying a freaking 9gb!! my laptop has been acting like an old grandmother lately... sigh. sacrifices huh.
alex and the rest are giving me a "farewell" again this saturday. isn't it amazing how many "farewell" gatherings one can chalk up in a lifetime? but i firmly refuse anyone to send me off on the 23rd.. i doubt i'd bawl my eyes out again, but i'm not prepared to risk it happening once more. so NO. besides, partings are sad.. why do they even bother to send me off? meetings are great, they should receive me when i come back in nov/dec instead. and i promised mei that this time, i would not keep my returning under wraps. :)

re-reading my previous entry, i think i over-reacted a little. ok fine ira, my grades are ok. they aren't as bad as i made them out to be. was just disappointed that i didn't meet my own expectations. sigh... what a world of difference a few marks make. still, i guess i shouldn't start fretting at this stage, seeing i still have five more semesters to redeem myself. i better start mugging day and night for the second semester. and i have no more excuses, no more psychotic flatmate who irritates the hell out of me.
a huge thanks to hui, tim, kok choi and zhi nan for allowing me to drag you guys all over sim lim square today. had the original intention of buying an ipod, but mag advised me to get the sony one instead. and kok choi, the technology expert, gave a thumbs up at my decision so i guess all's good. :) yay! i can finally study in the library without fear of dying due to lack of music!
for the second time in my life, i watched two movies in two days. i watched a lot like love with zu and mel on wed. gosh, i can't begin to tell you how bad the show was. just don't watch it. *shakes head frantically* watched fantastic four on thursday and i was incredibly relieved that it didn't disappoint. in fact, i loved it! especially johnny, the human torch. loved the humor bit as well... :) saw the trailer for the lion, the witch and the wardrobe and it looks super cool! of course, i'm a sucker for movies with battle scenes and from what i saw, the battle scenes looked fabulous. can't wait for it to come out!!
ok, i'm incredibly exhausted. sorry for the dry entry.

alright. i finally gathered enough nerve to hit the damn button. what the hell.. i am depressed! my best subject was the one i took while running a fever. and the two days before the exam, i was so sick i couldn't even study much! what the hell? where is the logic?? and that happens to be econs. well, at least i can say i didn't let mrs chong or mr nandwani down (my jc tutor and lecturer), not that they would care either way.
sigh. i KNEW i should have studied more. i KNEW i should have been more focused. subjects like management? accounting? i did them before! i did them in nus! i should have done miles better! was i too complacent? maybe. sigh. i didn't fail or anything... just fell short of my expectations. the fall hurts. i shall start studying for next sem. grrrrrrrrrrr. i'm so mad at myself. sigh. sigh. sigh. super pissed.
and just like that. all my hard work for my assignments went down the drain.

i feel sick. i want to puke. my stomach hurts. i know of at least one person who scored a high distinction in ALL her subjects! and another who scored three high distinctions. ughhhhh! i don't want to check my results. i much rather not know. congrats to vin li and jo ann though! you both did marvellously well! i gotta start studying with you guys next sem man!
my finger is super reluctant to hit the view results button. and there is a bloody moth flying around my room. under normal circumstances, i would be freaking out and trying to chase the damn thing out. but now, my stomach is tied up in such complicated knots i can barely move. is it a bad omen?
to know or not to know. if i don't know, there is always hope. though i keep telling myself not to expect anything, the higher your expectations, the harder your fall. if i know, well, at least i don't have to torture myself with the notion that i failed. sigh. curiousity, for some weird reason, ain't getting the better of me this time.
i just hope i remember to breathe.

got this very interesting test from Sharon's blog. i think its very accurate. Tim did e test too and it's pretty true too! here's his results (suggested by me to be posted here and acknowledged by him so tt he can read it) =P so here it goes:
--------------------------
Your view on yourself:You are down-to-earth and people like you because you are so straightforward. You are an efficient problem solver because you will listen to both sides of an argument before making a decision that usually appeals to both parties.
The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.
Your readiness to commit to a relationship:You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.
The seriousness of your love:You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.
Your views on education:Education is less important than the real world out there, away from the classroom. Deep inside you want to start working, earning money and living on your own.
The right job for you:You're a practical person and will choose a secure job with a steady income. Knowing what you like to do is important. Find a regular job doing just that and you'll be set for life.
How do you view success:You are afraid of failure and scared to have a go at the career you would like to have in case you don't succeed. Don't give up when you haven't yet even started! Be courageous.
What are you most afraid of:You are concerned about your image and the way others see you. This means that you try very hard to be accepted by other people. It's time for you to believe in who you are, not what you wear.
Who is your true self:You are full of energy and confidence. You are unpredictable, with moods changing as quickly as an ocean. You might occasionally be calm and still, but never for long.

can't agree with ting less. some ppl jus have e ability to piss ppl off so easily, w/o making any extra effort. is tt considered a rare talent? haha =X
caught "Batman Begins" on friday at J8 with my colleagues. its was awesome! good story line, humour + action scenes, some meaningful lines and handsome batman. i personally feel "batman" this character is not exactly e same as other superheros like superman or spiderman. he's kind of different. he does not possess any speical power or ability like superman or spider-man.. can fly or spin web. kind of more realistic la.. and he's not poor and thus he wants to help e poor or something like tt. blah, dunno wad i toking liao. anyway, its a nice show! i wan to noe how Robin came along leh, but its not in e movie.
finally get to eat e "shark's fin" at boon lay pasar malam today. hmm, i think e first time tt i ate was nicer. but nvm~ its still nice! anyway, watched AI on channel 5 jus now. it's sad.. cried =X *throw face* lucky tim's parents nv see. haha..
ok lar, its getting late le. gotta sleep.

i think it's amazing how some people possess the unique ability to piss others off. or simply irritate the shit out of them. is this person one of them? i'll let you judge for yourself. meanwhile, people like hui, mei and myself already have our minds made up.
this guy i'm talking about happens to be a good friend of tim and kok choi. sigh. how unfortunate.. it's because of that our paths had to cross. they call him beng (a very suitable name i feel), short for some chinese name i guess.
the first time i met him was probably about a year ago. hui, kok choi and i were sitting in starbucks, trying to come up with reasons why tim was perpetually gloomy and to see if we could think of any way to help him. kok choi then received a call from beng who said he wanted to pop by. when he arrived, i was standing in line for a coffee and when i returned to the table, he ignored me totally and completely. i was a little taken aback by the rude display and it was not until kok choi introduced us that he turned his attention to me.
he asked me what i was doing and i said i was waiting to go to uni. he asked which uni and i honestly told him i was contemplating between accepting nus's offer and going overseas. he asked which country i had in mind and i told him australia. i know that there are countless people out there who think australia universities are inferior as compared to countries like the united states or the united kingdom so i hasten to explain that the uni i had in mind was one of australia's best, and very difficult to get into. i wasn't bragging, i was merely stating facts. but apparently, that was still not good enough. he proceeded to belittle australia and its education system. i started feeling the initial prickings of dislike but i cautioned myself against judging people too soon. so when he asked me what course i wanted to do, i answered nicely, saying i wanted to do commerce. which immediately prompted him to comment doing my course was a total waste of time, because everything was just common sense. i was staring at him in disbelief, wondering what the hell was wrong with this person. he then asked me my grades, which i told him reluctantly. and what did that asshole have to say to that? "oh, a lot of people got those kind of grades too. a-levels are so damn easy."
what.the.fuck?
first of all, he has no right to comment (and i am not looking down on anyone, because i understand the singaporean education system doesn't exactly favour those who are not academically inclined) because he was from ITE. he had never gone through a-levels, what does he claim to know about it? and if it really is so easy, then why didn't he get into a jc? secondly, even if he was a whole lot smarter than he is, how can he attribute my grades to the fact that the papers were easy? wasn't he trying to insult me?
because i was more tolerant in the past, i let that go too. our conversation then turned to tim. you know my chinese sucks big time and there's no way i can express myself using that language so i apologised and stated my opinions in english. after i finished, the jerk said, "i think you are wrong. i disagree with you." he then proceeded to repeat everything i said in chinese. right. so your english is not good and you probably didn't understand what i was saying. but to come all the way out and say you DISAGREE and it was WRONG? sweetheart, that was a very weak attempt at trying to act smart. if you didn't understand me, just say so. i'm not looking down on you because we have a language barrier, i am looking down on you because you didn't have the decency to be honest and admit you didn't know. people like him won't learn anything in life, because they simply refuse to.
the second time our paths crossed was probably near the beginning of this year. i already made my decision to go flying off to melbourne and he heard the news through either tim or kok choi. i was unfortunate enough to sit diagonally across him, which immediately prompted him to start probing as to why i was giving up nus after one sem. please. i barely know you, i don't see why i have to explain and get approval from you for clearance to live my own life. i shrugged non-committedly, not answering, but the peabrain still didn't get the hint. he actually had the nerve to ask me how much my tuition fees in australia would cost. i was aghasted. this isn't the kind of question you go around asking someone you have only seen for the second time! hell, even people like hui and mei who known me for years didn't ask! i sat there gritting my teeth and muttering "very expensive". he still wouldn't let up and actually started guessing the figures. "is it 9,000? 10,000? 11,000?" steam was billowing from my ears and kok choi, who was sitting opposite me noticed. he immediately jumped in to save the situation and suggested that hui and i should head off somewhere quieter so we could talk without disturbances. phew. if he hadn't rescue me, i think i would be awaiting a murder trial.
the third (and i pray to God, the FINAL) time was last night. was out in town with hui and the rest when kok choi and zhi nan announced their plans for meeting beng and joshua. i wanted to head off immediately but mei had something in kok choi's lorry, so we had to wait for them to come before we could collect mei's stuff and bolt. the second i laid eyes on him, he pissed me off by saying, "you're back?". duh! i was standing right in front of him, what kind of a question was that? no i'm not back.. i died when i was in melbourne and my ghost is here to haunt you. i tried edging away from him but he was too persistant and stepped right in front of me to talk to me. "summer holidays? three months?"
"no, winter holidays." i replied in the iciest tone i could manage. he laughed like i was the stupidest person on earth. "winter?" he choked out. "it's summer now!"
so apparently, to add to all his major failings, his geography sucks at well. i jumped at the opportunity to scoff at him. "america is in the northern hemisphere. it's summer there now. australia is in the southern hemisphere. the opposite takes place there. it's winter there now." if anyone had the slightest bit of sense, they'd know they have been snubbed. but you're forgetting we're dealing with someone who has cotton in place of a brain. "i'm on the equator now and it's not winter." he smirked. *screams and runs around* you just said you were on the equator!! and since when does the equator experience FOUR seasons, you peabrain!???
i was done talking to him. was about to turn away when he made one final stab at appearing smart......... and failing miserably. "so your holidays are three months?" "no, slightly over a month." i didn't even bother looking at him while answering. i didn't care how rude it was, enough was enough. i turned and stormed towards where hui and mei were standing, rolling my eyes the whole way. jeez. and i heard him tell joshua, "half a year away and she's so westernised." good heavens. if you don't understand plain and simple english, just say so would you? don't try to find excuses for yourself and saying i've changed. because i haven't. and i was definitely NOT speaking with an accent. you know, there are some people who are not good in the english language. i don't mind, if they tell me they don't understand me, i can make an effort to express myself in chinese so they can understand. but dealing with people like him? whatever for? it's a waste of time and energy and i doubt he'd appreciate it. he'd probably take the opportunity to rib me about how terrible my mandarin is.
the most amazing thing ever, is that a girl actually likes him and thought about suicide when he rejected her. that is probably his biggest mistake, because other than that girl, i can't think of anyone else who'd fall for him. what is there to like about him? he has no looks whatsoever, no character, and no brains. nothing. i know i'm a horrible person but that girl has to be blind, deaf and mentally retarded to actually think he is boyfriend worthy. and you think i have bad taste in guys? think again.
i know i'm a horrible person, and i'm not really what you'd call "nice" to people who antagonise me. i dread judgement day. God is gonna have a lot to say to me.

Hui:
did another test tt i fount it on sharon's blog. interesting and accruate. e process is similar to e previous color test. and e result.. haha.. rather e same also la. looks like e problm still exist ya? i wanna be recognised and stand out from e crowd. i wonder when will it be.. maybe never. wahaha.. alright, here's e result.
-----------------------------------------
It would appear that you are experiencing one problem after another. When one problem is resolved, another seems to immediately take its place. It could well be that you are trying too desperately to evade or to escape from your present situation and it is 'you' that is causing the problems to manifest themselves. You need to slow down a little.
Being a likeable person you get on well with neighbors and friends. You don't need anything to 'Rock your boat'. You want to 'love' and to be loved'.
Loneliness is soul destroying and at this time you feel lost and lonely, perhaps it is because you feel so frustrated that you are prepared to go out of your way to become emotionally involved with someone who could accept you for what you are. You are egocentric, antagonistic and quick to take offense, although it must be said, you can control your pent-up up emotion and thus avoid open conflict.
You are trying to prove yourself - not only to yourself but also to everyone around you. There is much that you would like to say and do but the situation warrants self-restraint and that is the last thing that you have on your mind. It would seem that you have an unsatisfied need to ally yourself with others whose standards are as high as your own. You want to be different - to stand out from the crowd. This is subjecting you to considerable stress but you tend to stick to your attitudes despite lack of appreciation. Of course, you are finding the situation uncomfortable and would like nothing better but to break away from it but you don't like the idea of compromise. Your main problem is that you are unable to resolve the situation because you continually postpone making the necessary decisions. You feel that if you make the wrong choice this would lead to such opposition that you would not be able to command the esteem of others. It is essential that those around you are prepared to comply with your wishes.
You feel that you need to move on. You feel that you are not appreciated or valued for what you are and that the time is 'now'. Failure to do so will not afford you the conditions to prove your worth.

oh.my.gosh.
i just finished reading dan brown's the da vinci code and there is only one word to describe it.
wow.
ok, maybe three words.
wow, wow and wow.
absolutely amazing. if i had a weaker heart, i think i would have died of a heart attack by now. been wanting to get my hands on this book for ages, but i was unwilling to part with my money in melbourne. and also in hopes that the price would be much lesser in singapore. well, i was wrong. but it doesn't matter, because pei very kindly offered to lend it to me. and i'm so glad she did.
wow. it's the word of the moment. absolutely brilliant... i was hooked after the first chapter! and i couldn't sleep last night because i was only halfway through the book and i kept wondering what would happen next. hell, i even dreamt of it! it's so amazing i can't even begin to describe it... every new realisation brought goosebumps and the hunger of wanting to know more. the main characters' search, the way they eluded the police, the unexpected twists, the cliffhangers at virtually the end of every chapter left me breathless. jeez. this is one hell of a book.
a word of warning though. don't read it unless you are absolutely sure you have the time to finish reading the whole book. because once you start, there is no way you can put it down.
i now understand the controversy over this book. i wish the author didn't get my religion involved, because i am now feeling extremely confused. it is marvellously written, so much so that the line separating fact from fiction is blurred. i don't know which really happened, which was the result of true research and which was just the result of the author's extremely creative imagination. can't help but wished i read this much earlier, so i could have gone for melbourne uni's discussion. more specifically, the christian group in melbourne uni's discussion. so, seeing i missed that, i supposed the next book to read will be the one explaining the da vinci code? hmmm... i doubt i can get it at the library.. wonder if anyone has it??
it's gonna take a while for my mind to clear. reading all this crime stuff results in me having an overactive imagination and fully expecting someone to jump out of the shadows and level a gun at me. sigh. i guess it will pass.
been very much of a geek recently, all i'm contented to do these couple of days is curl up on my couch with a good book and the radio blaring. the things books do to my social life. *shakes head* but well, seeing i've nothing better to do most of the time and i have easy access to the library, i guess this is a good opportunity for me to catch up with one of my major hobbies. i can't help now but to give my opinions on the books i've read this past week. so bear with me.
jodi picoult's second glance. you heard my take on this one, marvellous beyond marvellous writing. some of my friends were a bit hesistant to take up this recommendation, seeing the paranormal is involved and it can get a little spooky at times. but i think all this spookiness is certainly worth it, it is a part of why this book is so brillant in the first place! read it. trust me, you won't regret it.
mary higgins clark's silent night. i think what makes this book special is that everything happened on christmas eve and gives new meaning to the word "faith". a simple story but the ending would make the reader feel good.
nicholas sparks's a walk to remember. i didn't read this book out of choice, i was stuck in my cousin's place with nothing to do and this was the only book lying around. the typical romance story you might expect, nothing new. touching yes, but it wasn't enough to trigger tears. perhaps it was due to the fact i already knew the ending and hence, was bracing myself for what would happen next. i thought this was one of his weaker books, in comparison to "a bend in the road" and "nights in rodanthe".
janet evanovich's high five. this book is actually the fifth book in a series (not that i knew that when i borrowed it) and revolves around a bounty hunter named stephanie plum and the things which happen to her. it makes for pretty mindless reading, nothing intense. it's a good book to read when you want to wind down after reading something as intense as "second glance" or "the da vinci code". a plus point is that this book is hilarious - crime fiction with a twist. though i was more interested in reading about her sex life than the mystery she was trying to solve. heh.
agatha christie's the hollow (courtesy of pei). look at the author. need i say anything more? truly the queen of crime.
